Behind him, a dark room filled with screens and more bunnies in military uniform, some with tablets in their hands, others bent over tables and reports, still more rushing around the edges.]

  • Timeline Integrity: Unstable. Breach detected.

Hub Hoppers,

Resistance scouts have confirmed: the cosmic overlord, Vren, is missing.

*Behind the war table, Fluffington adjusts his vest. He doesn't look comfortable.*

In other circumstances, this would be the time for the Resistance to strike; the Archives are unguarded and the stories it holds are ripe for liberation, but…
 
*The General's long, gunmetal-grey ears—fur clipped with military precision—twitch.*

Resistance Command has identified a new threat to the Archives. So far, Analysis hasn't been able to trace the source but—

*Fluffington leans over the table, tiny figures flickering as his long, fuzzy digits interrupt the holograms*

There is a gremlin in the Heroverse timeline, rewriting it.*

*He swipes a figure across the table. The view shifts, focusing on an undulating river of purple and gold, mixed with hints of red, green overlaid by an ugly black stain, like rot.*

Our attempts to remove the gremlin have been unsuccessful, only the dragon has the correct authorisation, and the Author—*His fingers, tipped in thick black claws, rap rap on the table.*—is not responding.

We are unsure of how far it the gremlin has infiltrated the timeline but one thing is sure… if it's allowed to spread, not just the Heroverse but the Multiverse will be in danger.

We will find the dragon, Hub Hoppers—Plot Bunny operatives are already scouring every inch of the Hub—and when we do… the Resistance will need your help.

FROM THE HUB

[The Hub is eerily empty and... silent. You can hear your heart beat and under that, the gentle thrum of the timelines undulating beyond the columns.

But of the great cosmic dragon... nothing, no scale, not talon, no snarky comments.

One thing does catch your eye though; the mark at the base of the southern column. A weird dark splotch on the shimmering grey stone, like a moth-shaped ink stain. The stain shifts and, for just a moment, the moth's body becomes an eye... staring at you.

A shiver rolls down your spine.]

Hello Defiant Ones!

Shhh.... *looks around. Gestures you closer.* Quick, while Vren's off doing... I don't know, Vren things I guess*; something to do with that mark on the southern column that's been wigging him out, probably.

Anyway, Vren's not here so he can't stop me from doing this. Technically, the Hero 10th Anniversary campaign doesn't start until tomorrow but... because you've been following the campaign for so long, I'm sneaking you in early. 

That's right, I'm letting you in 24 hours before the public, just don't tell Vren.

Hello Defiant Ones! 


🐉 FROM THE HUB 

[The Hub comes into focus, the flagstones, the timelines undulating gently beyond the five columns and Vren... belly, long serpentine neck and massive jaw flat on the floor. He's staring at the base of the southernmost column, almost pressing his eye to the stone. 

He's muttering to himself. '…wing…moth…I know you…where?' 

He doesn't notice you, and slowly, so slowly you're not aware of it at first, something pulls you back.] 

Hey, hey Defiant Ones! 

Okay, well… Vren's having a moment. That mark on the Hub's southern column has him in a tizzy. He swears it wasn't always there but… *shrugs* it's the Hub and strange things happen. 

Although… *leans in close and whispers* Just between you an me, I've been seeing a few Plot Bunnies around recently. And you know what happens when the Plot Bunnies get involved, don't you? 

*nods* That's right; fun and games. Literally. 

If I was a betting woman (or the Author *wink*) I'd guess that something fun is gonna go down right about the time the Hero 10th Anniversary kicks off, in just under 72 hours. It ain't just gonna be the campaign either, so… if you haven't already, hit the follow button to make sure you're in the loop.

You might have seen it in my regular newsletter, or caught a glimpse in the behind-the-scenes making of the Hero cover video, but this is the first time anyone is getting an eyeful of the full thing.

I need your help making an important decision before the campaign launches.

Multi-universal beings don't count. Besides, when was the last time you got post? And intercepted Plot Bunny resistance dispatches don't count. 
 
 [🐉 'Well…' The dragon huffs.] 
 
Anyway, for all my corporeal, non-Australian and New Zealand friends* – would you rather: 

  • 1️⃣ Receive a hand-signed copy of your special editions (with higher postage), or 
  • 2️⃣ Pay less for shipping and receive unsigned editions printed closer to you? 
 
Hand-signed copies have to travel all the way from me to you—and there’s a lot of air between Australia and the rest of the world—while unsigned copies can be printed locally and shipped directly to you. 
 
Here’s what that means in real numbers for the Hero Rebellion Omnibus (a hefty 900+ pages):
